Rosie works with various materials including precious and semi-precious stones, metals and epoxy resin. She takes inspiration from the natural world and has developed a style that is based on organic forms and textures. Rosie tries to represent these ideas when creating earrings, brooches, necklaces and rings.
As an art jewellery maker or studio craftsperson, Rosie's work emphasizes creative expression and design which is a little different from what you would normally find from more conventional fine jewellery. Although they used a very different medium, her favourite artists are Mark Rothko and Cy Twombly and you can see how her work has been inspired by theirs in its expression and freedom. Cy Twombly’s Quattro Stagioni, which is a series of four enormous paintings, is her absolute favourite piece of art because of its use of colour and almost violent expression of the four seasons.
Rosie spent an intensive month in India learning from a jewellery guru, learning basic techniques and exploring her own ideas and capabilities, she now offers short workshops where she introduces working with wire, beads, coils, spirals and resin enabling beginners to create their own unique pieces of Jewellery to take home.
You can also buy Rosie's work through some local independent shops including Swindon Pulse Wholefoods and the Swindon Museum and Art Gallery Shop.
Rosie will also be exhibiting her work at Eastcott Studios as part of the Swindon Open Studios in September
